Celebrate The First Snowfall
Here in Duluth there’s no business like the snow business. Northlanders were thrilled at the first appearance of winter. And Fox 21 was able to catch a ride with one busy snowplow driver.
Engines roared and the snowflakes flew, Jeff Vukelich sits behind the wheel of a city snowplow;Vukelich is back at it again.Clearing off pavement since 2 AM this morning; he puts in these long hours to keep our roads safe.
When the heavy snowfall hits the Duluth area Vukelich it takes the plow anywhere from 24 -36 hours to clear off the city.
The city is well stocked with a large supply of salt and sand. Keeping the main roads clear in town is a top priority for the city.
Kelly Fleissner, Manager of Operations said, ” 6th Ave East, 21st Ave East, Lake Ave, 21 Ave West streets like that.”
The snowbiz is a buzz at Spirit Mountain too. The ski resort couldn’t be happier about the first snow of the season.
Brandy Ream, Executive Director At Spirit Mountain said, “This is the best advertising and marketing that money can’t buy is when everyone is waking up with snow in their backyard.”
The twenty two run ski facility is having a big re-opening on Saturday kicking off daily operations at the ski hill. Several trails will be open and they will be running their Alpine Coaster as well.
