Participants try to win prizes

Our sister radio station 95 KQDS and Marine General will host the 2015 Ice Fishing Olympics Tuesday.

The event kicks off in the Grandma’s Restaurant parking lot in Canal Park at 7 a.m.

It includes everything from scooping minnows in a container to sorting jigs. It’s an event that draws a crowd.

“It’s really a good time. It’s something people look forward to. When it’s done people call wanting to know when the next one is and everyone listens in. it’s a good time,” said Russ Francisco, owner of Marine General.

Every participant will receive a $20 dollar gift card to marine general, with the top three having a chance to win over $2,000 worth of ice fishing merchandise.
