Unique Homes: The Purple Palace

We’re wrapping up our tour of unique homes in Duluth.

We’ll head to the Woodland neighborhood where a 1960s style home is still celebrating the iconic era.

“It’s like a DeLorean dropped me off. Every day it’s a time machine,” said Myles Summers who lives at 4402 Woodland Avenue, known as the Purple Palace.

The home was built in 1961 with a funky design inspired by Summers’ grandpa.

“My grandpa liked to have fun. He had flamboyant taste. Kind of a big game hunter, I think almost. It was the 60s, 70s, too, so out there,” said Summers.

Shag carpet lines the walls and the kitchen counters are original bright orange.
