Halloween is coming and whether your kids are going as a princess or a vampire, everyone needs to know how to celebrate safely.

To find out what tips you should remember when it comes time for some trick or treating we talked to Duluth Police.

First they recommend that you make sure your kids are staying on the sidewalk, not walking through yards or on the street.

Another tip Officer Ron Tinsley says to have in mind to keep your little monster safe is to make sure they are visible to drivers with reflective tape or a glow stick.

Tinsley also has some advice for adults who may be celebrating this Saturday too.

“if adults are going out to costume parties, just to make sure that if they are going to have an alcoholic beverage to make sure that they plan a sober ride and just to be responsible,” said Ron Tinsley, Public Information Officer with the Duluth Police Department.

It’s also important to go through your kid’s candy and making sure no wrappers have been tampered with after Halloween is over.

One final tip, be leery of homemade treats unless you know the person who made it.
