More than 200 students were able to explore UMD’s Engineering Department Saturday.

The open house offered a perfect chance for students to discover what department of engineering they are interested in: mechanical, industrial, chemical, civil, or electrical.

Students within a 100-mile radius were invited to the 25th annual hands-on event where they could speak with students and professors.

“So chemical engineering they were making ice cream, they had some bubble generators, they were looking at some explosions. In mechanical engineering we did a little bit with their SAE car that they built, they build one every two years – cost about 25–thousand dollars to build,” said UMD’s Graduate Engineering Program Outreach Coordinator Moe Benda.

Next Saturday, October 17th, UMD is hosting a Science Day for interested students to learn more about biology, chemistry, math, physics, stats and much more will be offered.
