Grand Rapids senior Alex Adams has committed to play college hockey at the Air Force Academy.

Girls hoops may be last, when you talk about Minnesota's State tournaments, but in Grand Rapids, it's anything but least.

Of the eight teams remaining in Minnesota Class A Girls Basketball, a quarter are from the Northland.

Esko was ousted in the first round of the tournament last year.

In Minnesota, March Madness starts with the Boys' State High School Hockey Tournament.

Silver Bay and Northland came out on top Thursday night and will face off in the Section 7A quarter-finals. 

Hermantown moved back in to Section 7A for hockey in 2014.  The Hawks will play in their third straight 7A championship game Wednesday, seeking their third straight title and seventh straight trip to the MSHSL Boys State Hockey Tournament.

In two previous trips to the Girls Class A State Hockey Tournament, Proctor-Hermantown was 0–2 at the Xcel Energy Center.  The Mirage will get at least two more skates at the home of the Minnesota Wild after Proctor-Hermantown beat New Prague Wednesday.

Girls hockey playoffs in Minnesota wrap up this week as the MSHSL State Tournament starts Wednesday with Class A quarterfinals.  For the second time in three years, Proctor-Hermantown is the Sec. 7 champ.

The Wild and interim coach John Torchetti won't be at the Xcel Energy Center for more than a week because Girls State Hockey moves in, starting February 17th.

Across the bridge prep hockey is coming to an end for the boys in Superior playing their last game tonight against Duluth East.
