Lake Superior College’s Center for Advanced Aviation is officially hosting classes.
In November, LSC signed a 10-month lease with the Duluth Airport Authority for a 40,000 square foot hangar for their professional pilot and aviation maintenance technician programs.
City leaders say this means more jobs for the community.
“All the pieces fit into place. I mean you’re literally within doorsteps of one major employer where those students will then be able to go and get skill–rich, high–paying jobs,” said Tom Werner, Duluth Airport Authority Executive Director.
“For every qualified A&P mechanic that we bring to the city of Duluth, or we create in the city of Duluth, that’s a new job that can support a family,” said Duluth Mayor Don Ness.
Students have been taking advantage of the hangar since classes started August 24.
