Over twelve hundred High school students from northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin were in Duluth Tuesday to learn about shaping their future career choices.
The “Pathway to Careers” event at the DECC featured speakers, 12 workshops, and a career fair with over 80 exhibitors
“They’re all giving hands on opportunities to young people, to somehow interact with careers that they represent,” said Lynn Haglin, the Director of the Northland Foundation.
Students had the chance to get a small taste of what it might be like to work in fields like healthcare, technology, engineering, communications, non-profits, and philanthropy.
They say they like that the event gives them different options.
“ I think in a class room it’s hard to really know what you’re really interested in because you’re constantly reading from a text book so getting the hands on experience for what you really should be doing, is helpful,” said Lily Geil, a Junior at Moose Lake High School.
Twenty five school groups participated in the event.
