Do You Have What It Takes To Be A Special Agent

Interim Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken knows the importance of a strong union between his department and the federal agents in town.
“We value that partnership we value that relationship. “They come to our morning meetings.” Tusken said.
And the FBI presence is vital here because Duluth’s make-up is so unique with the busy port and a lot of international access with ship trafficking.
The Duluth Police and FBI Partnership often comes in handy and it was used earlier the month to solve a crime.
” Let’s look at the bank robbery we just had that made the arrest. We responded-FBI came out to the scene short there after we get a picture of the suspect.” Tusken said.
But is being an FBi agent as cool as hollywood makes it seem?What does it really take to become a special agent?
” The vetting process is very extensive. We roughly hire between 7 and 800 agents per year.” Loven said.
Agent training involves an intense 21 weeks at Quantico the FBI Academy on the east coast.
There are three phases to becoming an agent. Phase one is written exam.
“To determine ones aptitude with respect to the special agent position.”
Then it is an interview with several federal agents assessors who determine if a candidate has the right personality for recruitment.
If you manage to make it through the first and second phase all that’s left is the final background investigation.

The Bureau has 56 field offices located in major cities and more than 400 resident agencies in smaller cities across the nation.
