Fifth Graders Face Off in ‘Friendly Competition’

Kids Look Forward to This Event For Years

When you’re in school every day, it’s always fun to have a day outside of the classroom.

And why not a day for a little friendly competition?

The “Track-o-Rama” is a Superior tradition for fifth grade students in school across the area, and fulfills that very need for friendly athletic competition!

Races, relays, and the tug-of-war – it’s how these students blow off a little steam and have fun while doing it!

Teachers say this is something these kids look forward to for a long time.

“I think it’s all about seeing the results of your hard work,” said Samantha Wilson, a teacher at Great Lakes Elementary. “They work so hard all year, and for a lot of them many years. And this is the first time they really get to compete, and show off.”

And students also try to break records of their older classmates, records that can stand for a while.

The Track-o-Rama is a tradition that’s been carried on since 1973.
