The Duluth Transit Authority and other groups hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today for the newly constructed Northwest Passage Skywalk.

The project began on June 22nd, just after Grandma’s marathon.

Thursday’s ceremony marked the near completion of the Northwest Passage, which is now open to the public.

“Opening this up now allows the people to park at the DECC, to access the down town, and those people who work in the down town to access the attraction of the canal park area throughout the day,” said Dennis Jensen, General Manager of the Duluth Transit Authority.

The project is expected to be completed around the end of December or early next year.
