The DTA will be giving free rides to the DECC for those who need a place to cool off

If anyone needs some relief from all the heat, the Duluth Transit Authority is offering the coolest ride in town. They’re offering free rides to the DECC which is open to those who are seeking air conditioning.

Peaceful Protest Draws Hundreds

Many gathered at Duluth's City Hall to fight against racial inequality.

Hundreds joined in a peaceful protest in the Twin Ports at the city halls of Duluth and Superior. The Justice City Coalition organized the event and called for racial inequalities to end.

Forest Service Holds First Twin Metals Lease Renewal Listening Session

The session brought hundreds to the DECC to hear public opinion on mineral leases near the Boundary Waters Wilderness watershed.

The Forest Service held their first public listening session on two Twin Metals mineral leases. The Forest Service is deciding whether or not to renew the leases. The leases are located in the same watershed as the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Ashland Looks to Remove Ban on Gas Stations Selling Alcohol

Committee votes to remove ban. It will go before council on May 31st.

An Ashland city ordinance bans the sale of beer and other alcohol in gas stations, but the city might be changing their stance on the issue. Voters turned down the issue in a referendum in 2010, but it’s taking on a new life with news that a popular chain wants to come into town.
